Ginuwine fires up Johnnie Walker Soul-R&B Safari concert

American R&B star Ginuwine, also known as Elgin Baylor Lumpkin, did not disappoint his Ugandan fans who came to see him perform at the at the Johnnie Walker Soul-R&B Safari concert at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala last Saturday.

The award-winning music star took the stage at 10:08pm (1908) GMT and entertained his fans with hit songs and high-energy dance moves.

During the show, he asked the gig-goers to switch on their mobile phones to brighten up the night.

“Put on the lights for love and peace. I want to see love we took 21 hours on a plane to come here,”  he told the crowd. 

“Thank you for following me for 22 years…thank you for coming here tonight. We love and appreciate you” he declared with glee.

Ginuwine played Same Ol’G, Pony, In Those Jeans, So Anxious, Stingy, Ginuwine For Your Mind, Differences, When Doves Cry, The Best Man I Can Be, and Hell Yeah, among others.

He also paid tribute to Aaliyah and Michael Jackson by playing their songs for the role they played his music career. 

“There are three things we should treasure every day; that is life, family and friends and these people helped me so much in my career,” he added. 

Curtain-raisers at the event included local stars; Naava Grey, Kenneth Mugabi, Maurice Kirya and Aziz Azion.
