A French doctor who served in the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s Ituri province has tested positive for Ebola after returning home, prompting Kinshasa to tighten surveillance and quarantine measures.

The Congolese government said the medic had been deployed by medical charity Alliance for International Medical Action (Alima) and worked as an intensive care physician at the Rwampara Evangelical Medical Centre in Bunia between May 22 and June 19, 2026.
