Commercial sex workers call on govt to legalise profession

Prostitutes have petitioned the government to legalise their profession saying it is their only means of making a living.
This not the first call to legalise prostitution in Rwanda. Earlier this year the Civil Society Organisation (CSO) petitioned President Paul Kagame to intervene and help review sections of article 205 of the Organic Law instituting the Penal Code that states that if a person subsequently commits to prostitution he/she shall be liable to a term of imprisonment of six months to two years and/ or a fine of Rwf50,000 to Rwf500,000.
