From Johannesburg to Belém: No one is coming to save Africa but us

The year 2025 stripped away the long-held illusion that there are individuals or entities out there who will rescue Africa and provide sustainable solutions to the challenges we face.

The United States’ empty seat at the G20 summit in Johannesburg, and its absence at COP30 in Belém signalled a wider retreat from multilateralism and climate responsibility.
