February has been a month of aviation talk around here. Uganda Airlines saw off its lady CEO and acquired an Ethiopian transitional head to reorganise the national carrier that in a few years of its revival has had impressive market growth but inadequate equipment optimisation.
Then “news” of Ethiopia’s massive Bishoftu International Airport project has been circulating on social media. The $12.5 billion project, led by Ethiopian Airlines, will start in August and be ready in 2030, with capacity to handle 110 million passengers annually — the biggest in Africa.
