A parent, a child, a crowd, the police: If we need it, we’ll rent it!

From weddings to politics, even children and skeletons, nothing is off-limits in the booming business of renting in today’s society.

It is that time of the year when you get swamped with invitations to functions. Wherever you go, you encounter the new world of renting. Weddings and bridal introductions are increasingly being held in rented venues, no longer in homes. The clothes worn by the bridal entourage are rented, as are the bridal cars, which in the past were contributed by friends and relatives.

Even if you host your daughter’s introduction ceremony at home, you may not control the gifts the groom brings. In our vain society, they bring truckloads of goodies hired from a wholesale depot and, owing to obvious space limitations at the girl’s home, they drive the gifts to safety and make room for more gifts to be declared.
