Sadc leaders meet to consider deploying troops to Mozambique

Southern African leaders will meet on Thursday to consider recommendations by security chiefs to deploy a 3000-strong rapid response force in Mozambique as the region moves to neutralise insurgents in that country.
A Southern African Development Community (Sadc) technical assessment mission proposed the deployment of special forces and three light infantry battalions of 630 troops each in the northern Cabo Delgado region of Mozambique.
