William Ruto: Frequent flyer or Africa’s diplomatic broker?

At home, Kenya’s President William Ruto has often been mocked for spending too much time travelling abroad. But those trips now appear to be shaping a more assertive diplomatic posture, as he increasingly casts himself as a defender of Africa’s place in the global order.

This week, he hit back at critics who accuse him of frequent flying. In June alone, he has been to South Africa, Belgium, Norway, Finland, and France.
