Uganda marked 64 years of independence at State House Entebbe on Friday with a low-key ceremony for a limited number of invited guests, instead of the traditional large-scale celebrations at Kampala’s Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.
Only about 30 very important persons (VIPs) and a few religious leaders attended the ceremony in person, while millions of Ugandans were expected to follow President Yoweri Museveni’s address and the proceedings on Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) and other national broadcasters.
