Kenya marks Mashujaa Day every October 20, a national holiday dedicated to celebrating heroes –past and present – who have shaped the nation’s journey toward freedom, justice and progress.

This year’s celebrations, led by President William Ruto at Ithookwe Stadium in Kitui County, continued the tradition of rotating the event across regions to bring the spirit of patriotism closer to the people. From independence icons to modern-day changemakers, Mashujaa Day honours those whose sacrifices and achievements have left a lasting mark on Kenya’s history.
