This lockdown period will now continue from April 15, to May 5.
Ugandan President Museveni has extended the lockdown for another 21 days to prevent further spread of the corona virus
In a televised address on Tuesday afternoon, Museveni said that the extension will start from April 14 to May 15.
“There are still problems like the cargo truck drivers at the border, the cargo crew at the airport, United nations workers, the health workers treating the Covid-19 patients. These are still the frontline of the fight and that’s where we are concentrating,” he said.
“So, all the 35 measures previously announced will stay for another 21 days, that is until 5th May,” Museveni said.
“By May 5 we shall have a clear picture and the lifting of the restrictions will start systematically, for example by opening public transport because you cannot open schools when there is no public transport to take the children to schools,” added Museveni.
Uganda has so far confirmed 54 positive cases.
Eight patients have been discharged after successful treatment.
