Atmis partners prepare rollover to new mission amid funding challenges

Barely ten days before the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (Atmis) mandate expires, partners in the Horn of Africa country’s peacekeeping efforts are preparing for another improvised transition, seeking to plug gaps they fear could undermine previous successes.

This week, they generally said they give Atmis a technical rollover, as it emerged that the deployment of Egyptian forces to replace the Ethiopians remains a contentious issue and a subject of ongoing discussions.
