August marks an important anniversary for two nation-communities; Ugandans and Ugandan diaspora Indians.
2022 marks the 50th year since the expulsion of the Indian community from Uganda in August 1972, when then-president Idi Amin gave them 90 days to either leave the country or face unknown consequences.
