Maureen Osoro: ‘Success lies in human connection’

There is a moment in every interview when the subject forgets they are doing this for publication. For Maureen Osoro, it happened when she was talking about her children. She explained the three questions she asks them every evening without fail: What made you laugh ha-ha-ha today? What was the best part of your day? What was the worst part? Her face softened in a way that has nothing to do with boardrooms or market share.

For a split second, she was not the Harvard-trained general manager or the woman responsible for one of the world’s most iconic whisky brands across four East African countries. She was just a mother talking about how she tries to stay connected to her seven-year-old and five-year-old.
