A recently launched multimedia production, Retracing Kikuyu Popular Music, comprising a book, audio CD and documentary DVD offers insights into modern Kikuyu music, explaining the basis of characteristics such as the dress styles — Stetson hats, cowboy boots, denim suits — and gives historical context to the instruments used and topics covered. The CD was produced by Tabu Osusa.
Compiled and produced by Ketebul Music, an non-governmental organisation, non-commercial venture based in Nairobi, Kenya, all the proceeds from this multimedia package will go into further research, development and documentation of East African music.
