Since the Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF) halted the genocide and took power in 1994, Rwanda has metamorphosed into a modern country. The effects of modernisation are not only visible through the country’s infrastructure, but also in the arts scene.
Local music, for instance, has acquired a new flavour as several Rwandan artistes continue to borrow sounds from other regions especially from Western countries. Also, some musicians who had been living abroad before the genocide have moved back to Rwanda bringing with them different cultures which they have blended with Rwandan culture, hence diluting it.
