Flying for Kosovo, a case for self-identity

The official website Flying for Kosovo quotes James Berisha saying: “It seems to me that I have lived all of my life in preparation for this moment. My morale is good and nothing can stop my flight.” Berisha is a pilot who has been flying around the world for the past two years as an emissary for the recognition of the independence of Kosovo.

When the International Court of Justice last year ruled that Kosovo’s declaration of independence did not offend any international law, it finally stopped questions from those opposed to its independence, like Serbia and Russia. In fact Belgrade had made the bold move of seeking the court’s opinion on whether the independence declaration was legal.
