Uganda has joined Tanzania in adopting a phased rollout of electronic invoices across the economy, marking a sharp contrast with Kenya’s approach, which required all businesses to begin issuing electronic invoices simultaneously.

Currently, mandatory issuance of electronic invoices is a preserve of businesses registered for Value Added Tax (VAT) which means that only those whose annual turnover exceeds $80,864 (Ush300.0 million) are required to comply.
