Kenya in blueprint talks amid poll-season scepticism
Kenya's Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Deputy President Prof Kindiki Kithure, President William Ruto and ODM Leader Oburu Oginga during the unveiling of the National Conversation on Kenya’s Future Beyond Vision 2030 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi.
Kenya has opened nationwide consultations on a new 30-year development blueprint as President William Ruto seeks to frame the plan as a fresh path to prosperity, while opposition politicians cast it as an election-season charm offensive.
Mr Ruto launched the talks in Nairobi on August 12 with representatives from various sectors, arguing that the new blueprint could help push Kenya towards first-world status by 2060, after Vision 2030 fell short of its promise to transform the country into an upper-middle-income economy.
