Kenya has introduced mandatory inbound travel health insurance to ensure that foreign visitors bear their own medical and emergency evacuation costs, seeking to protect local hospitals and the government from absorbing unpaid treatment bills.
Outlined in Gazette Notice No 11492 by Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale, the policy takes effect under the Social Health Insurance Act.
