A work boycott by workers of warehouses at the Port of Mombasa is hurting importers from as far as the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan, who are reliant on Kenya for humanitarian supplies.
The workers boycotted work this week to demand better pay, disrupting the supply chain in the logistics industry. More than 1,000 casual workers who load and unload cargo in Mombasa’s industrial area in Shimanzi went on strike on Monday, leaving tonnes of goods unattended.
