Despite emerging as one of Africa’s top music industry earners in recent years, thanks to the growth of Afrobeats and its rising international appeal, Nigeria’s music industry loses $231 million annually due to deep-rooted weaknesses in copyright protection, enforcement, collective rights management and royalty payment systems.

Kenya, another of Africa’s rising music markets, loses $55 million annually.
