The International Monetary Fund (IMF) this week passed a $261 million financing package for Ethiopia, in what seemed to be a major vote of confidence in the country’s efforts to implement fiscal and monetary reforms, and rebuild an economy smarting from war and macro metrics.
The Fund noted Addis Ababa’s measures in enhancing the foreign exchange market, modernising its monetary policy, mobilising revenues, and advancing its financial regulatory framework for growth.
