China dangles duty-free access to Africans with diplomatic ties with Beijing
The Ministerial Meeting of Coordinators for the Implementation of Follow-up Actions from the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (Focac) takes place in Changsha, Hunan Province, China, on June 11, 2025.
China has offered duty-free access for products emerging from African countries with diplomatic ties with Beijing, as long as they sign a trade deal with the Asian nation.
The offer was made in a joint declaration between the Chinese and African Foreign ministers meeting in the southern city of Changsha on Wednesday, reflecting China’s pushback against Western rivals it called bullies in international trade.
