Neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) affect more than one billion people in 149 countries worldwide. Yet, as the name suggests, they remain largely hidden and receive little attention. NTDs are mainly distributed in rural, marginalised areas where they inflict not only immense suffering on affected communities, but also negatively impact the social and economic development of entire populations.

Five of the common NTDs are preventable with safe, quality-assured donated medicines that can be easily administered to entire affected and at-risk populations.
