Tanzania will on November 26 host the Miss East Africa 2021 event. The much anticipated Miss East Africa Beauty Pageant event is hosted by Rena Events, whose president Rena Callist named 16 countries — among them Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia and Malawi — having confirmed participation.

The first prize will be a Tsh146 million ($62,763) car. Organisers are calling for entries with criteria for candidates being aged between 18 and 26 years and able to express themselves fluently.

A Nissan Xtrail worth more than Tsh100 million ($62,763) awaits the queen; runner-up Tsh11 million ($4,728) in cash and the third receives Tsh5 million ($2,149). There will be many other prizes for the participants worth Tsh20 million ($8,597).

Tanzania will host the competition that will be broadcast live and watched by over 300 million people via TV and social media. Tanzania will benefit by promoting its tourist attractions.

Mr Callist urged qualified beauties who want to participate to fill the special forms that will be available online.

The company’s vice president, Jolly Mutesi, who is Miss Rwanda 2016 said the contestants will benefit from a variety of things including getting an education, experience and exposure.
