Josephine Okot is the managing director and proprietor of Victoria Seeds Ltd. Close to 90 per cent of Uganda’s agricultural output is produced by smallholder farmers. As such, affordable inputs are vital and Victoria Seeds has helped alleviate this need by both researching and producing seeds.
The company became operational in 2004 and and the accolades have since then come thick and fast with the resulting gains in food security, including Investor of the Year in Uganda and the Yara Prize in 2007.
