US, Kenyan firms partner to enhance electricity management

American renewable energy firm, GE Grid Solutions, has appointed Amotech Africa as its local distributor and channel partner for Kenya, in a bid to expand distribution of electricity grid solutions.

Amotech Africa on Tuesday said the new partnership would enhance its delivery of energy solution services across East Africa, as it aims to tap into the huge potential that remains untapped.

The company said the partnership will enhance distribution and uptake of electric grid solutions that allow effective management of electricity from the point of generation to the point of consumption.

“We have come a long way as a country in terms of electricity generation and value chain management, however, there is huge potential that is yet to be unlocked in this sector. As a key player in the energy sector we are confident that through the solutions GE has to offer we will be able to create the needed impact as we enhance safety in the sector and contribute towards efficient electricity management,” said Amotech Africa’s Head of operations Njeri Gachanja.

Amotech Africa aims to gain from the huge experience GE Grid Solutions has, having a global presence. GE Grid Solutions is an American firm, headquartered in France.

“With decades of expertise, Grid Solutions helps utilities and the industry at large to effectively manage electricity from the point of generation to the point of consumption - to maximise the reliability, efficiency and security of the grid,” the local energy solutions firm said in a statement.

Headquartered in Nairobi, Amotech Africa has a presence across East, South, Central and West Africa, including in Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Democratic Republic of Congo and Nigeria.
