Zimbabwe's ex-president Robert Mugabe sent shockwaves in Zanu-PF when he posed with the retired general who will take on the ruling party in this year's election.
The symbolism of the photo opportunity, which was featured at the top of a press release issued by the new pro-Mugabe splinter party, was unmistakable.
Analyst say it was unfortunate that Mugabe appeared to be "getting entangled in opposition politics."
