Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka said the new constitution held a great promise for the Kenyan people and must be supported by all.

The ceremony was also attended politicians who campaigned for its rejection, among them former President Daniel Moi and Higher Education Minister William Ruto.

At the end of the ceremony the invited guests released white doves a sign of peace and prosperity.
