The holidays are here and what better way to spend it than relaxing on pristine sands while soaking up the sun’s rays at Kenya’s Diani Beach.

The South Coast, home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, is holding the Diani Beach Festival from December 9 to January 2.

Diani Beach has won several hospitality awards. It was voted the seventh best beach in Africa in 2017 by an American travel website, TripAdvisor, and ranked seventh overall on the list of top 25 best beaches in Africa.

The beach festival will feature extreme sports and entertainment with a 10-day skydive boogie, aiming to bring together 500 people from over 32 different countries.

On track

“We are well on track with planning. The festival is a modern contemporary event and revellers will be treated to the very best of Diani from beach yoga, to skydiving among other activities, as well as top quality service,” said Diani Beach Festival director Sandip Patel.

There will also be a kite surfing competition, water sports, kids club adventure week and an air sports exhibition.

Kenya’s top music group Sauti Sol, Tanzania’s Vanessa Mdee and Hed Kandi from the United Kingdom will perform at the festival.

An array of restaurants will offer international cuisine, there will be Christmas shopping villages, bars, lounges, a pool retreat and Moët Hennessy VIP areas.

Hotels in Diani, Mombasa and other coastal towns have the capacity to accommodate the visitors.

The festival venue has the capacity to host 3,000 to 3,500, people and the aim is to have over 20,000 visitors throughout the festival.

Diani Beach Festival will employ 250 members of staff from the local towns and villages, with over $3 million injected directly into the local economy.

The event has been sponsored by Moet Hennessy with support from recently ranked five star hotel-Swahili Beach and English Point Marina.
