Gracing Rwanda’s Live and Unplugged event this month is South African Afro-Soul musician Berita Khumalo.

The 27-year-old award winning songstress will be performing at the newly launched Kigali Cultural Village on May 26.

The event organised by AfroGroov, a Rwandan artistes and events management organisation, features live acoustic performances by world and pan-African artists. This is Live and Unplugged's second concert this year, and will unveil another unique continental star.

Of outstanding talent with powerful vocals and guitar skills, Khumalo has worked with a variety of local and international Afro-Soul artistes such as the late Hugh Masekela and Oliver Mtukudzi, building a great reputation not only in South Africa but all over the continent.

“Berita is a powerful rising female who holds a strong message of empowerment for women through dialogue, which she is determined to do. This is going to be a very intimate session and we are looking forward to it,” said Eric Kirenga, Afrogroov's Founder and Creative Director.

On her recent East African tours, Khumalo through live stage sessions, shared her rich artistic experience with Tanzanian, Ugandan and Kenyan artistes too, which the organisers hope she will bring to Rwanda too.

This series of live concerts was launched in 2014 and attracts hundreds of revellers.

It is staged in Kigali, on a quest of gradually capturing a suitable environment for an outstanding optimal musical experience.
Over the years it has featured various themes like Kigali Up, Sound Check, Session at Hotel Mille Colline. Entrance is Rwf5,000 ($5) for early birds and Rfw10,000 ($11) at the gate.
