SUSAN MASHIBE (TANZANIA)
Susan Mashibe is executive director and founder of Tanjet, an aviation logistics provider. Recently named a Young Global Leader 2011 by the World Economic Forum, Mashibe’s firm, started in 2003, provides logistical support for corporate, diplomatic and private jets. Her client list includes heads of state and Fortune 500 executives. She also runs another company, the Kilimanjaro Aviation Logistic Centre. She has been recognised for her brand of entrepreneurism, being awarded the 2009 Women of Achievement Award and the 2009 Archbishop Tutu Fellowship Award. She spent years in the West learning the aviation trade before returning to Tanzania to see if she could “make a difference.” For a long time now, she has been Tanzania’s only commercial pilot-cum-aircraft engineer.
