Tourists love zebras; so do lions
Wildlife conservation is rarely a black and white issue.
However, this is the case in Kenya, where authorities are translocating 7,000 zebras and wildebeest from around Kenya to the drought-stricken Amboseli National Park.
According to Isaac Lekolool, the vet in charge of animal capture and translocation at Kenya Wildlife Service ,
“Last year… was a bad year for Amboseli and a bad year for Kenya.”
He told a news website that the KWS was restocking Amboseli because it had lost many of its herbivores last year.
“Amboseli is a tourist facility and if the tourists come and they don’t see animals they are not happy.” And they are not the only one’s who’ll be pleased.
“The lions are happy now,” Lekolool says with a smile. “We bring the food closer to them!”
